The Bank of England has confirmed that construction starts on Capitol House in October 2026. The Bank of England has secured a long-term lease at Capitol House on Bond Court, with the move from Yorkshire House set for late 2028. Around 300 staff are already based in Leeds, and this project cements the city’s position as the UK’s most significant financial hub outside London.

The Capitol House refurbishment is a substantial fit-out project, including facade work, internal reconfiguration, all fit-out to Bank of England specification. These programmes draw in specialist trades from across the country – M&E engineers, fit-out crews, project managers on extended placements – the kind of professionals who need accommodation that actually works for them, not a city-centre hotel charging £140 a night with nowhere to park a van.

Leeds is not a city with one project on the go. It is a city with dozens running simultaneously – Sweet Street, Leeds South Bank, Aire Park, the Inner Ring Road strategy, LBA Phase 2. Capitol House adds another layer to a construction pipeline that is already one of the most active in the UK outside London.

For teams heading to Bond Court or anywhere in Leeds city centre who require contractor accommodation close to site with van parking, a full kitchen, weekly rates and one invoice is the practical solution.
